Alter g - Leading-edge Gravity Differential Technology
The G-Trainer anti-gravity treadmill™ enables users to
reduce their effective body weight during exercise to
continue training during injury recovery, outdistance
conditioning limitations, and build endurance.

Elite athletes and weekend joggers alike are always looking
for
technological advancements to help them run farther,
faster.
The G-Trainer is being adopted to augment training and
conditioning routines, enhance performance, and allow users to
continue working out during injury recovery.
It’s always preferable to prevent injuries rather than recover
from them. The G-Trainer allows individuals to increase training
volume and speed while minimizing the risk of impact-related
injury and continue training regimens without pain caused by
chronic injury issues.
Currently, the G-Trainer is being sold and marketed solely as a
training tool, but user stories have prompted us to pursue United
States FDA 510(k) pre-market notification and international
medical device certifications to market the G-Trainer as a
rehabilitation and therapy device.

The G-trainer is the perfect tool for overspeed training. As the individual decreases their weight they're able to increase speed beyond what they could normally do at full weight. By doing so, they are able to run at a faster turnover rate increasing their body's familiarity with higher speeds. The muscle memory from these increased speed sessions increases the overall speed potential of the individual when at full body weight. The G-Trainer's broad variable range for weight, speed and incline allows users to customize their workout sessions in accordance to specific needs.
Long distance runners can only run so many miles before the stress of impact takes its toll on their bodies. When they pushing limits running outdoors or on conventional treadmills, the risk of stress fractures and other common running injuries significantly increases. G-Trainer users are able to increase their training volume (reportedly up to as much as 40%) by spending portions of training time running at reduced body weight.
Because the G-Trainer allows for a full range of motion, runners can experience a full stride, as they would on a track, with no upper-body restrictions. More miles means better conditioning with fewer impact-related injuries.
In August of 2005 the first product prototype was delivered to Nike’s Oregon Project for distance runners to put it through its paces. Alberto Salazar, Oregon Project Director, was instrumental in working with Alter-G founders to provide feedback for the final G-Trainer product. Additional prototype testers included the Golden State Warriors and the Oakland Raiders. Alter-G continues to work with Alberto and his runners to understand the benefits of using the G-Trainer and improving the G-Trainer technology.
